Job Description

This role is open to current Manchester Metropolitan students who have undertaken the training and certification exams as part of either the Microsoft or Adobe Certification Scheme (preference will be given to students who have received both). There are up to 3 positions available.

This is an exciting opportunity to help develop the digital capabilities of students at Manchester Met During Semesters 1-3, there will be a series of events that will allow students to undertake the relevant training and complete a certification exam for their chosen application in a single day.

Digital Mentors will support in the facilitation of these events, working with students to help them:

  • Set up the space for certification events
  • Complete the relevant training for their certifications
  • Understand the results of practice tests
  • Determine areas required for improvement to pass their certification exam
  • Provide assistance to students struggling with particular tasks
  • Identify software issues
  • Proctor exams

There will also be opportunities to lead introductory workshops in either MOS or Adobe Software.

Dates:  29th September 2026 31st July 2027 
Hours of Work: up to 8 hours a week - hours may be inconsistent

Person Specification

Essential

  • Current Manchester Metropolitan University undergraduate or postgraduate student.
  • At least one relevant Microsoft or Adobe certification. 
  • Ability to explain digital tasks clearly to students with different levels of confidence and experience.
  • Good communication and facilitation skills.
  • Ability to identify when a student is struggling and provide appropriate support.
  • Confidence troubleshooting basic software or access issues.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of an events team.
  • Reliable, organised and able to follow examination and proctoring procedures.

Desirable

  • Certifications across more than one scheme.
  • Previous experience delivering workshops, demonstrations, peer mentoring or training.
  • Experience interpreting practice-test results and helping others identify development areas.
  • Confidence leading introductory workshops.
