Job Description

The current opportunity is available for current Manchester Met students, to apply you must be based in the UK for the duration of the role.

 
There is an opportunity for students to apply to assist our local partner, Hulme Community Garden Centre in delivering two orchard workshops and one woodland workshop at our Birley campus. You will greet and register students, and provide assistance to our partner from Hulme Community Garden Centre for the orchard and woodland sessions. 
  
Duties:
  • Meet students and staff in front of the Brooks building, register attendance, and direct attendees to the orchard or woodland area
  • Support Kath from Hulme Garden Centre in delivering a successful workshop
  • Support and encourage attendees during the activity
 

Please note - This workshop is lead by Kath at Hulme Community Garden Centre in all weathers, so please wear weather appropriate clothing and footwear.

 
Ideally, you must be available to work all three workshops, all of which are planned to take place on Wednesday afternoons.
    Autumn Orchard workshop
    Dates: 30th October 2024
    Times: 1.15pm - 3.30pm
     
    Autumn Woodland Workshop
    Date: 20th November 2024
    Time: 1.15pm - 3.30pm 
     
    Winter Orchard Workshop
    Date: 29th January2025
    Time: 1.15pm - 3.30pm

    Person Specification

     This role is only open to current Manchester Met students who meet the following requirements - 
     
    • Great communication skills and personable - you will be expected to converse confidently with students and staff.
    • Knowledge of environmental and sustainability issues - some knowledge in these related areas would be beneficial to the role.
    • Must be available to work the three sessions on the 30 October 2024, 20 November 2024 and the 29 January 2025.
    • Willingness to work collaboratively in a team setting.
