Job Description

The current opportunity is available for current Manchester Met students, to apply you must be based in the UK for the duration of the role.
 
The central Outreach team are seeking to recruit Sociology/Criminology students to welcome groups of 1st year college students onto campus taking part in a Criminology/Sociology subject taster afternoon. The successful candidates will meet the students following an introductory lecture, and take part in a student panel Q&A session, they will then accompany students on a campus tour.
 
You will be expected to provide a positive and informative perspective on all aspects of studying here at Manchester Met and being a part of the Manchester Met University community.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Answer questions about university life as you tour students around campus. You can direct complex questions to Outreach and teaching staff.
  • Participate in a tutor led student panel Q&A session, answering questions on studying Sociology and/or Criminology and wider questions on student life.

You will receive full briefing ahead of the event to ensure you are able to guide students successfully and confidently around the campus and participate in a student life Q&A panel.
 
Date: Wednesday 5 February
Hours of Work: 2:30pm-4:30pm
Details of briefing: 30 minutes to take place before event takes place (date and time TBC)

Person Specification

This role is only open to current Manchester Met Students who meet the following requirements -

To be a successful, you will need to be enthusiastic, reliable and enjoy working as part of a team. You must explain in your application form how you meet the following requirements of this role:

- Be outgoing and confident.
- Good with young people.
- Excellent verbal communication skills and the ability to engage with staff and visitors.
- A positive attitude to university life.

Essential

  • Current UG Criminology and/or Sociology student.
  • General knowledge of Information and Guidance and able to share own student life experiences.
