Job Description

The current opportunity is available for current Manchester Met students, to apply you must be based in the UK for the duration of the role.

The main purpose of this role is to provide research support to colleagues and support staff for the Community Research Ethics Initiative by assisting, and where necessary taking the lead, with communication, data collection and management, public communications, and administrative tasks.

The Community Research Ethics Initiative (CREI) is a project funded by the EU's Chanse initiative (chanse.org). It seeks to understand the ways that ethics protocols in different countries across Europe impact on researchers, research subjects, and research professionals, especially in the case of sensitive data of human subjects in the digital age (such as information about online religious practice). In particular, it is interested in the ways that badly-formed protocols can in fact impede coordinated research and lead to practices that fail to protect the rights and needs of researchers and research subjects. The Initiative aims to create proposals for better, more harmonised research ethics practices that serve the needs of researchers and subjects alike, and to present these proposals to research funders, universities, and the general public.

If candidates have questions about the project or the role, they should contact the PI, Dr Joshua Edelman, at [email protected].

Dates: mid-March 2025 --- mid-December 2025
Hours: Flexible based on studies, but an average of 9 hours per week
Location: Hybrid. (The PI's office is in the Righton building, and most meetings will be held here).
