Job Description

The current opportunity is available for current Manchester Met students, to apply you must be based in the UK for the duration of the role.
  
The Faculty of Science and Engineering is seeking to recruit 20 students to join the Student Advisory Board to help shape education policy and strategy and to provide feedback on innovations.
 
This is an exciting opportunity to have strategic input into developing education and student experience at Manchester Met whilst enhancing your CV and developing employability skills.
 
We aim to recruit students who are representatives of different courses, year groups and backgrounds. No previous experience of working within education is needed.
 
The Student Advisory Board will:
 
  • Ensure the views and experience of students are considered when developing education and student experience initiatives.
  • Provide a forum for students to share their opinions of education and student experience and ides to improve effectiveness and impact.
  • Support the development of strategies to engage students. Ensure our communication activity and content uses a relevant and relatable tone of voice, language and narrative.
  • Support student feedback and research activities.
  • Contribute to shaping the ongoing remit of the Board – including themes or issues to discuss.

Please note: this is an occasional role. The Student Advisory Board will meet once on campus in 24/25 between 12noon–4:00pm on the Wednesday 12 March (a working lunch will be provided). You will be required to read any documents before the board and attend the meeting in person. There will be opportunities to undertake paid ad hoc work during the year on behalf of the Board.

Person Specification

This role is only open to current Manchester Met Students who meet the following requirements - 
 
  • Confident in asking questions, contributing to discussions and making constructive suggestions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Can develop and maintain positive working relationships.
  • Able to work effectively as part of a team or independently.
  • Understand the importance of maintaining confidentiality.
  • Good time management skills and the ability to meet reasonable deadlines.
