Job Description

The current opportunity is available for current Manchester Met students from the Department of Sociology (and Criminology), to apply you must be based in the UK for the duration of the role.
  
Job role: City in the Community (CITC) 
 
Research on a City in the Community (CITC) project relating to the impact of trusted relationships on attitudes towards criminality in under 25s.

What is a CITC Placement?

Our placements provide the opportunity to work with data from across a variety of CITC programmes and projects, working alongside some of our core business functions and teams to provide support. 

What’s in it for you?

The placement will allow you to share your knowledge and experience with our project participants and staff and develop your individual skills such as analysing real world data, developing professional networks and time managements of project work. You’ll also get to see first-hand the work that CITC do and be able to contribute directly to the positive impact the charity has on all those who attend our sessions and events. As well as new experiences, you’ll also have the chance to meet lots of new people and be part of a positive, friendly, inspiring team!  

What’s involved?

  • Work with the MEL team to create relevant and informative programme analysis across a specified or a variety of CITC projects to elevate reporting for programme partners internally and externally.
  • Support the wider CITC Team to understand project impact using quantitative and qualitative data and appropriate analysis and inputting this information into relevant visuals e.g. PowerPoints and reports with correct branding and assets.
  • Present findings to the wider CITC team to help inform programme change and share further understanding as and where required.
  • Support, training and mentoring from the MEL team throughout your placement.
  • Becoming familiar with and following CITC’s policies relating to Health and Safety and Safeguarding
  • Role modelling our CITC values (Caring, Inclusive, Transformative and Youth-Led)
Dates: 6 May - 11 July 2025
Hours of Work: 9:00am-4:00pm, 1 day per week for 10 weeks (can be negotiated)
Location: City Football Academy or other venue according to project / event. Can work remotely if required, but a presence in the office for 80% of the placement would be advised.
 
Please Note - As part of the 2025 Sociology Internship offering, priority will be given to Level 5 & 6 students who have specified in the Careers Registration survey (this is completed during enrolment and cannot be changed at this time) that they have had no work experience in the last 12 months and would like some on campus work or a short work placement and those who have not worked via Jobs4Students previously. However, applications are welcomed from all students meeting the criteria below.
   
Students are only eligible to undertake one Sociology Internship.

Person Specification

This role is only open to current Manchester Met students from the Department of Sociology (and Criminology) who meet the following requirements: 
 
This role will suit people who are enthusiastic and friendly, enjoy and understand the benefits of physical activity for wider health, social and emotional benefits, understand and are able to carry out effective data analysis and someone passionate about working in the community, with children and young people in particular.
