Job Description

The current opportunity is available for current Manchester Met students, to apply you must be based in the UK for the duration of the role.
 
 The primary purpose of this role is to manage event enquiries that we receive either by email, or via one of our partner venuefinding websites.

You will also assist in supporting some live events, greeting clients and ensuring the operational elements of their bookings go to plan.

Over the course of the role, there may be other tasks and projects that require your assistance, but this will become clearer when we know how much of your time the core role takes.

Start Date: week commeing 7 July 2025, for eight weeks.

H  16 Hours: 16 hours per week, ideally split into 3 days of 6, 5 and 5 hours – the days will likely be Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.

LocatLocation: Primarily in person  

 
Key Responsibilities

 ReacReactive Sales:
• Take ownership of the ‘venues inbox’ where all our new conference and event enquiries are collected.
• Investigate new events, deciding which ones are worth pursuing and which ones can be turned down.
• Replying to clients and logging enquiries .
• Producing quotes and event specs for enquiries we want to progress.
• Taking events to contract if the client decides they want to come in.  
• Booking rooms for events that we contract.

Live   Event Support
• Conducting ‘meet and greet’ sessions with event organisers and ensuring their event is set up correctly.
• Dealing with any issues which events may have quickly and effectively.

Team Team assistance
• As we’re all so busy at the moment, there may be times we need you to support a coordinator with ad hoc tasks.

Other Duties
• Adhere to health and safety policies, and apply the University’s Equal Opportunities Policy.
• Promote environmental sustainability practices within the project and University.
• Carry out additional relevant duties, in agreement with the rest of the team.

 

Person Specification

This role is only open to current Manchester Met Students who meet the following requirements - 
• Currently enrolled in or have completed an Event Management course at Manchester Met.
• Willingness to learn and use relevant software including our Event Management System, Star Res (which you will receive training for).
