Job Description

The current opportunity is available for current Manchester Met students, to apply you must be based in the UK for the duration of the role.
  
 Join us at Manchester School of Architecture's Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) team for an exciting opportunity in supporting our work. We are seeking an individual to work closely with staff and students in developing our EDI platform, contributing to fostering a more inclusive and equitable environment within our School. As an assistant to the EDI Team, you will play a vital role in meeting project objectives, engaging with students, and supporting the creation of dynamic content for our digital platform.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Meet with the project manager on a weekly basis to discuss ongoing tasks and project progress.
  • Collect and edit student work, ensuring high-quality representation of diverse perspectives and experiences.
  • Conduct interviews with students about their academic work, capturing their unique insights and contributions.
  • Engage with the MSA's EDI Fora Society to gain a comprehensive understanding of the culture and identity of our School.
  • Utilize image processing software to prepare visual content for the digital EDI platform, identity.
  • Demonstrate an active interest in matters of equity, diversity, and inclusion, reflecting these principles in all aspects of your work and interactions.

Skills Development:

  • Communication and Networking: Enhance your communication skills by engaging with diverse stakeholders and building professional relationships within the School community.
  • Project Management and Content Development: Gain valuable experience in project management and content development, contributing to the creation of meaningful and impacfful EDI initiatives.
  • Image Processing: Develop proficiency in image processing software, learning to manipulate visual content effectively to convey key messages and themes.
  • Curating of Visual and Narrative Work: Learn to curate visual and narrative content, selecting and presenting material in a compelling and accessible manner.
  • Time Management: Hone your time management skills through balancing multiple tasks and meeting project deadlines within the internship timeframe.
  • Socially Engaged Practices of Diversity and Inclusion: Deepen your understanding of socially engaged practices related to diversity and inclusion, contributing to the creation of an inclusive architectural community.
  • Engaging with the Architecture and Design Industry: Gain insight into the architecture and design industry by collaborating with industry professionals and exploring emerging trends in EDI practices.
 
 
 
 
Details:
Dates: 6 Oct 2025 - 31 May 2026 (with 6 weeks holiday)
Hours of Work: Up to 6 hours per week x 28 weeks total
Details of briefing: Weekly meetings with project manager
 

Person Specification

This role is only open to current Manchester Met Students who meet the following requirements - 
 
  • Have a demonstrable interest in matters of equity, diversity and inclusion
  • Are comfortable working with both staff and students
  • Have experience with image processing software (for example Adobe Creative Suite)
  • Have some experience in curating visual material
    (for example compiling their portfolio work)
  • Have good time management skills and are excited in contributing to the new MSA EDI platform project
