Job Description

The current opportunity is available for current Manchester Met students, to apply you must be based in the UK for the duration of the role.

We are looking for two talented student photographers to support our LinkedIn headshot drop-in as part of Week 6: Get set for success. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain professional experience, build your portfolio, and contribute to an important careers-focused initiative for fellow students.

The successful candidates will:

  • Take professional headshots of students attending the event, ensuring the photographs are suitable for use on LinkedIn and other professional platforms.
  • Organise and track photos so that each image is correctly matched and delivered to the right student.
  • Carry out basic editing to ensure images are professional and consistent in quality.
  • Allocate time after the event to complete editing and send the final images to the Careers team.

There may also be opportunities to capture wider event photography, time allowing, to support marketing materials for future Week 6 events. 

Please Note: If you would like to use any images in your personal portfolio after the role ends, you will be responsible for following appropriate data protection processes, including gaining consent from the students photographed. 

Date: Tuesday 4 November 2025
Time: 9:30am - 2:30pm (incorporating 30 minutes beforehand to set up and test the space)
Editing & submission deadline: Up to 2.5 hours of editing time, with all images to be delivered via Google Drive (or equivalent) by Thursday 6 November 2025 (AM).

Person Specification

This role is only open to current Manchester Met Students who meet the following requirements -
 
You must bring and use your own photography equipment (camera, lenses, lighting, etc.). Staff will not book or supply equipment for this role.
 
  • Confident in using DSLR or mirrorless cameras, flash lighting, white balance adjustment, and basic editing software.
  • Able to manage and track large numbers of individual photographs to ensure correct delivery to students.
  •  Familiar with photo editing tools such as Lightroom or Capture One, particularly if planning to tether the camera to a laptop during the shoot.
  •  Comfortable interacting with a wide range of students, helping to put them at ease and ensuring a positive headshot experience.
