Job Description

The current opportunity is available for current Manchester Met students, to apply you must be based in the UK for the duration of the role.

Love creating content that actually gets views? Got TikTok or Instagram experience and a knack for making people stop scrolling? We’re looking for a Student Content Creator to showcase our cafés, restaurants, and catering outlets across campus. From taste tests to behind-the-scenes tours, you’ll be the face and the brains behind fun, creative videos and posts that show off what’s on offer.

What You’ll Do

  • Plan, film, edit, and produce short-form content for TikTok, Instagram, and other channels.

  • Be comfortable on camera as well as behind it – hosting, reviewing, and presenting in a way that connects with other students.

  • Work with the Catering & Hospitality team to highlight menus, special offers, seasonal events, and everyday student favourites.

  • Come up with creative ideas that grow reach, boost engagement, and make our outlets stand out.

  • Balance one day a week on campus filming with a remote day producing and editing content.

What We’re Looking For

  • Confident, creative, and full of ideas that grab attention.

  • Experience in creating engaging content on TikTok/Instagram (you’ve got the receipts to prove it – show us your work).

  • Strong editing skills and the ability to turn around high-quality content quickly.

  • Your own equipment (phone/camera, editing tools/software) to film and produce content.

  • Reliable and organised – able to balance creativity with deadlines.

The Perks

  • Paid student role (casual contract).

  • Real-world content creation experience for your portfolio.

  • A chance to put your personal style into a uni project that thousands of students will see.

Dates: 4 November 2025 – 4 February 2026
Hours: Up to 10 hours per week (split across 2 days – one day on campus filming, one day remote editing/producing)
Location: Manchester Metropolitan University – Catering & Hospitality Outlets

Person Specification

Essential:

  • Currently enrolled student at Manchester Metropolitan University.

  • Confident and comfortable both in front of and behind the camera.

  • Proven experience creating engaging short-form content on TikTok, Instagram, or similar platforms.

  • Strong filming and editing skills, with the ability to produce professional and polished content.

  • Access to own equipment (smartphone/camera and editing software).

  • Creative thinker with the ability to generate new and exciting content ideas.

  • Reliable, well-organised, and able to manage deadlines effectively.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to engage a wide student audience.

  • Available to commit 10 hours per week (split into 1 day on campus for filming, 1 day remote for editing/production).

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of current social media trends and how to adapt them to a university setting.

  • Experience in presenting or hosting digital content (e.g., vlogs, livestreams, TikTok skits).

  • Previous experience in marketing, promotion, or brand partnerships.

  • An interest in food, hospitality, or lifestyle content creation.
