Job Description

The current opportunity is available for current Manchester Met students who are fully registered with Jobs4Students (this includes having attended a right to work appointment) and are studying on one of the Manchester Fashion Institute courses, and will be based in the UK for the duration of the role.
 
The Manchester Fashion Institute is looking to appoint a social media assistant to collaborate with the team on the development of the school’s public image through its website, Instagram and LinkedIn accounts.
 
The successful student will
  •  Assist the team in writing and editing posts and visual materials.
  • Create engaging multimedia content across multiple platforms.
  •  Assist in identifying events and topics.Carry out an analysis of other accounts.
 
Dates of Work: 6 hours a week across 30 weeks as follows:
  • w/c 27 Oct 2025 - w/c 15 Dec 2025 = 8 weeks
  • w/c 12 Jan 2026 - w/c 23 Mar 2026 = 11 weeks
  • w/c 20 Apr 2026 - w/c 29 Jun 2026 = 11 weeks
 
Hours of Work: Up to 6 hours per week (to be worked on a flexible basis around university commitments).  

Person Specification

This role is only open to current Manchester Met Students (who are fully registered with Jobs4Students) who meet the following requirements - you must be a current Manchester Fashion Institute student.
 
  •  Have a good understanding of various social media platforms and their role in recruitment and publicity, and a thorough understanding of the subject area, the School and its courses.
  • Are able to work independently.
  • Are proactive, creative and propositional, meet deadlines and have a professional attitude when interacting with other staff members and students.
  • Proficient in InDesign, Photoshop and a film editing software
  • Confident in writing news stories and creating content across multiple platforms.
  • Have a good understanding of various social media platforms and their role in recruitment and publicity and a thorough understanding of the subject area, and the Fashion Institute and its courses.
  • Will act as an advocate for the Fashion Institute and the university.
  • Able to work independently.
  • Proactive, creative and propositional, meet deadlines and have a professional attitude when interacting with other staff members and students.
