Job Description

The current opportunity is available for current Manchester Met students, to apply you must be based in the UK for the duration of the role.
 
The Faculty of Business & Law are seeking to recruit an International Engagement Ambassador to engage with social media activity and support new PG International students by providing opportunities and guidance. 
 
Applicants are invited from current PG international Manchester Met students from the Faculty of Business and Law (so they must be enrolled as a student at the time of application and also for term 2: January-June 2026). Each International Ambassador will work with a number of dedicated departments and with the Head of International.

This is an excellent opportunity for students to build their CVs further, use their personal experience, and positively impact their peers. You will be expected to lead discussions, share ideas around your experiences, and signpost students to the support provided by the University. You will also be part of the international meetings to provide feedback to Faculty.
 
Duties may include:

Social Media Activities:

  • Developing promotional materials (such as articles, blogs, videos or media articles) by collecting testimonials and feedback from students;
  • Capturing content that can be used in social media posts- especially during Go Global week 6
  • Create polls, or short videos to engage students on social platforms.
  • Share success stories and cultural experiences.
  • Assist in monitoring comments and messages on official social media channels, ensuring timely and helpful responses.

Engagement Activities:

  • Supporting welcome events;
  • Providing support for students coming to our campus for study tours;
  • Providing welfare checks to international students;
  • Supporting off campus visits;
  • Providing information and guidance at events, on promotional stands and through peer-to-peer activities, e.g. international week and induction;
  • Collaborating with staff from across the University and specifically, the international leads, Head and Deputy Head of International and Faculty Head of PG and the Student Experience Officers;
  • Attending training and debriefs where you will receive support, resources, and feedback;
  • Work on Go Global activities in week 6 including – Setting up events; helping presenters with crowd management during events; guiding students and presenters to events; and helping the committee to ensure the event runs successfully
  • Attending Virtual Open Days and Visit Days to speak to prospective students about your experiences.
  • Research and data collection for a variety of projects.

Successful applicants will be invited to attend an interview (taking place mid January 2025).

Dates of Work: from Mid January to end of May

Hours: to be discussed and agreed around timetable but will typically be 10 hours per week, but can be up to 16 hours where needed.

Training: will take place on during the first couple of weeks work.

Person Specification

This role is only open to current Manchester Met Students who meet the following requirements - 
 
  • Current International Postgraduate taught Manchester Met student from the Business or Law School (be an enrolled students now and through January - June 2026)
  •  Be a student on one of the Post graduate courses in the Faculty of Business and Law - You must state your programme and level of study in your application form and confirm that you started your studies in September 2025.
  • You will be an enthusiastic individual who is keen to be a role model for both Manchester Metropolitan University and your Faculty. We are looking for team players keen to work with other colleagues from across the University to create an excellent students experience for international students. The role requires you to have close contact with a wide variety of students and so you must be friendly, approachable, and non-judgmental in order for students to feel that the learning environment is a safe place. 
  • You must be committed to attending your sessions, planning time, training and debriefs.
