The current opportunity is available for current Manchester Met students, to apply you must be based in the UK for the duration of the role.
This is a specific role for students who have experienced the placement application process and completed a placement or a short-term internship and are currently studying in the Department of Marketing, International Business and Tourism in the Business School.
Our ambassadors will enthusiastically promote the benefits of placements & short-term internships, through a range of activities including events, providing appropriate guidance and advice to students who are interested in obtaining a placement.
You will assist in equipping our current students with invaluable practical insights across all stages of a placement journey, from contemplation to completion. This is very much a collaborative role with L4 and L5 students, assisting them in assessing whether undertaking a placement aligns with their aspirations and goals. Then, inspiring them and guide them through the process.
Ideally, each Placement Ambassador will predominantly work within their own programme area, but there will also be a requirement to work flexibly and as a team where appropriate.
You will be asked to participate in presentations such as Q&A sessions, induction, and other placement activities within the department. Placement ambassadors will be willing to provide drop-in sessions for students needing support, as well as contribute to the departmental blogs, newsletters and, where appropriate, post on LinkedIn.
Whilst 1 hour per week is a notional requirement, that will not necessarily be every week as tasks will be varied.
Tasks may include:
- Running targeted promotion of placements and internships, contributing to events and information services (e.g. lecture shout-outs & promotion drives) to Level 4 and Level 5 students
- Providing information and guidance at events and through peer-to-peer activities, e.g. placement or internship application support, and departmental drop-in sessions

- Attending training and debriefs to receive support, resources, and feedback
- Signposting students to specialist and further support provided by the Placement Engagement Coordinator (PECs), Career Advisors and/or Personal Tutors
- Develop promotional materials such as blogs, articles, slides and videos by collecting testimonials and feedback from students and placement employers
