Job Description

Man Met Sport are looking to recruit a team of referees and umpires to officiate their Campus Leagues starting in October 2026 to implement the sports leagues for the academic year 2026-27.

As a Campus League Official your duties would include:

  • Officiating the intra-mural sport league within the university; including understanding the rules, keeping score, maintaining a safe fixture and reporting results using Playwaze.
  • Qualification from relevant NGB is desirable, however not essential.  There may be potential opportunities to gain qualifications during your time with us.

Officials are needed for the following sports:

  • Football
  • Netball
  • Volleyball

Successful candidates will be required to work between 2-12 hours a week, with leagues being played on Wednesday and Sunday afternoons/early evenings at the following locations:

  • Sugden
  • Platt Lane Sport Complex
  • Hough End Leisure Centre

If you are a campus league official during 2025 - 2026 you will need to reapply for 2026/ 2027 

 
Successful applicants will be invited to an MS Teams interview that will take part during week commencing on or around 27 February 2026  (Timings TBC)

In addition, applicants should be/be able to/have:
 
Essential
Qualified to NGB standards in either Football, Netball or Volleyball as a referee/official/umpire (e.g. minimum FA Basic Referee course).
Demonstrate an enthusiastic approach and a ‘can do’ attitude
Demonstrate a love of sport and an attitude that will help convince people to play
A sound understanding of the sport they are applying for
Experience in the sport they are applying for (whether it be as a volunteer, player, coach or referee)
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Demonstrate an ability to work in a team with some independent working
Demonstrate good time management and flexibility to fit responsibilities around your study
 
Desirable
First Aid and previous coaching experience and qualifications beneficial but not essential
