The current opportunity is available for current Manchester Met students, to apply you must be based in the UK for the duration of the role.
We are looking for someone to work with the Manchester Poetry Library team to administer the 2026 Mother Tongue Other Tongue competition. Entries are submitted online by teachers and pupils and information about the school, age of pupils, languages used etc is entered at registration via a MS Form. After the competition deadline of 20th May passes, all entries need to be downloaded and the relevant data used in order to allocate pieces to a panel of student judges. Judges responses are then collated to create a shortlistand then winners. The final task will be to analyse data to produce reports.
You will work alongside a small team who know the competition well. There is also web support for the DRUPAL MTOT web links but you will be responsible for providing technical administrative support to download, sort and analyse entries So you will need high level Excel skills and have some prior experience of programming, web development and databases. Knowledge of Power Automate would be an advantage but as long as this can be picked up easily, not essential. Ideally, we are looking for students who are studying Computing Studies, Software Engineering or Computer Science.
The turnaround for this project is fast, with some intensive work being required at the start but this will ease off a little following w/c 9th June, when attention turns to other aspects of the project, leading to the schools celebration on 8th July. The role is part time (no more than 16 hours a week and totalling 136 hours over the 10 weeks of the contract) but you must be available on 21st and 22nd May, we can be flexible about days and hours of work after then.

Hours of Work: up to 16 hours per week
Details of briefing/training: a briefing with the team will be arranged before the work begins on 21st May. This will take approx 3 hours and will be paid.
