Job Description

The current opportunity is available for current Manchester Met students, to apply you must be based in the UK for the duration of the role.

The Role

Each year, from August to October, the University receives a high volume of phone and email enquiries during the enrolment period. As an Enrolment Advisor, you'll play an important role in supporting students and staff through this busy time while gaining valuable customer service experience, developing confidence using University systems, and building an understanding of how a large organisation operates.

You'll work closely with colleagues across the University via phone, email and Microsoft Teams, helping to identify emerging issues and ensuring enquiries are resolved efficiently.

What you'll do

A typical day may include:

  • Guiding new and returning students through the enrolment process
  • Responding to enquiries about photo uploads and ID verification
  • Using reports to identify and resolve common issues, with support from your manager
  • Referring more complex enquiries to the appropriate team

During quieter periods, you may also support other enrolment and student services activities. Throughout the role, you'll work alongside experienced full-time staff who will provide guidance and support.

Hours and Location

  • Working pattern: 4–5 days per week, Monday to Friday (reducing once the main enrolment period ends)
  • Hours: 9:45am–4:15pm
  • Location: On campus, most likely at 6 Great Marlborough Street

There will be a high volume of hours available before the start of term. Preference will be given to applicants who can commit to working full-time, or close to full-time, until late September.

If your application is successful, Jobs4Students will advise you regarding any restrictions on the number of hours you're permitted to work.

Key Dates

  • Role duration: Monday 17 August to mid-October. Hours will reduce or the role may end after late September, depending on J4S restrictions and helpline demand.
  • Mandatory training (in person): Thursday 6 and Friday 7 August, approximately 10am–4pm. Attendance on both days is required to fulfil this role.
  • Interviews: Microsoft Teams interviews will take place between 16 and 24 July.

Person Specification

The current opportunity is available for current Manchester Met students, to apply you must be based in the UK for the duration of the role.

We're looking for students who are:

  • Excellent communicators, both over the phone and in writing
  • Calm, professional and approachable, particularly when handling a high volume of enquiries
  • Confident problem-solvers who can resolve straightforward issues and know when to refer more complex enquiries to the appropriate team
  • Comfortable learning and using new systems and technology (full training will be provided)
  • Able to work accurately and responsibly with confidential information, following data protection and privacy guidance (training provided)
  • Observant and proactive, recognising emerging trends or recurring issues and raising them with a supervisor
  • Friendly, reliable and able to work collaboratively with colleagues across the University

How to Apply
