Job Description

The current opportunity is available for current Manchester Met students; to apply, you must be based in the UK for the duration of the role.

Event context:

 Delivering campus tours as part of new doctoral students’ induction activities. Working in pairs with another doctoral student, taking groups of new students on tours of c.60-90 minutes around the campus. All the students attending the fair and tours will be new doctoral students, so the tours should include areas of the campus especially relevant to this group, e.g. research facilities and study spaces. Time has been allowed for the pairs of guides to meet in advance and plan the tour route.

Details:
 
Date: 14 October 2026 and 15 October 2026 
Times: Times to be confirmed. Tours will be approximately 60-90 minutes long.  Each pair of students will do two tours and a short break in between, plus one hour meeting with the other guides in advance (to be arranged once hired).

Total working time: 3 hours leading tours, 1 hour preparation (4 hours total)

Time: 3pm-4pm
Location: BS 3.13; (Business School)

Person Specification

This role is only open to current Manchester Met Students who meet the following requirements -
  • This role is open to Doctoral Students, as the tours should include areas of interest to that group of students (perhaps including study spaces that other students cannot access) and the tours aim to introduce new doctoral students to one another and to their community.
  • The successful applicants should be familiar with the campus and areas for doctoral students within their faculty.
  • Enthusiasm for sharing your experience of doctoral study to make new students feel welcome is a definite advantage.
