Job Description

The current opportunity is available for current returning Final Year Manchester Met students from the BA (Hons) HRM, BA (Hons) Business and HRM and BA (Hons) Business Psychology who have successfully completed a Sandwich Placement year, to apply for. We are seeking to recruit two Placement Ambassadors to support current Level 4 & 5 students by enthusiastically promoting the benefits of a placement year, through a range of activities and events, and providing appropriate guidance and advice. Applicants are invited from returning Final Year Manchester Met students, studying BA (Hons) Human Resource Management, BA (Hons) Business and HRM and BA (Hons) Business Psychology who have successfully completed a Sandwich Placement year. Ideally, each Placement Ambassador will predominantly work within their own programme area, but there will also be a requirement to work flexibly, and as team where appropriate.

This is a great opportunity for students to further build their CV, put their placement experience to good use, and have a positive impact on their peers. You will be expected to lead discussions and share ideas around your experiences and signpost students to the support provided by the Placement Engagement Coordinators (PPC), Career Advisors or Personal Tutors.

If successful, typical activities include:
  • Running targeted promotion of placement (Sandwich & Internships) events and services (e.g. lecture shout-outs, promotion drives) for Level 4 and Level 5 students.
  • Providing of information and guidance at events, on promotional stands and through peer-to-peer activities e.g., application form support, and drop-in sessions.
  • Collaborating with staff from across the University and specifically, the HRM/Business and HRM/Business Psychology Employability Lead and relevant careers service staff.
  • Attending training and debriefs where you will receive support, resources, and feedback.
  • Signposting students to specialist and further support provided by the Career Advisors and/or Personal Tutors.
  • Develop promotional materials (such as articles, blogs, videos or media articles) by collecting testimonial and feedback from students and placement employers.
  • Work on additional activities and events if & when required.
  • Attend Open Days and Visit Days to speak to prospective students about your placement experiences.

Dates 
From week commencing 21 September 2026 to Friday 28 May 2027
Up to 30 hours in total for the role, approximately 2 hours per week in term-time (Oct-March) as agreed by the hiring manager. Person Specification

This role is only open to current Manchester Met Students studying either:
  • BA (Hons) Human Resource Management (HRM)
  • BA (Hons) Business and HRM
  • BA (Hons) Business Psychology
Additionally, you must be a Level 6 student who has successfully completed a Sandwich Placement Year.
