Job Description

The current opportunity is available for current Manchester Met students, to apply you must be based in the UK for the duration of the role.
  
We are looking for a small team of approachable and reliable students to work as Event Assistants at a graduate conference in the Dalton Building on Monday 21 September 2026. The event will bring together graduates, alumni, employers and university staff for keynote talks, panel discussions, breakout sessions, networking and development activities.

The Event Assistants will act as a friendly point of contact for attendees and support the event team with welcoming and directing guests, signposting attendees to sessions, supporting speakers and facilitators, assisting with room set-up and event materials, and providing general event support.

Students may also assist with refreshments, networking activities and pack-down. They should be prepared to support with a range of tasks throughout the day and respond positively to requests from the event team. The role may involve standing for most of the event, with reasonable accommodations offered where possible.

Date: Monday 21 September 2026
Hours of Work: 11am–4pm

A full briefing will be provided by email before the event, including the event schedule, key responsibilities, locations and where students should report. Further guidance will be provided by the event team on the day.

Person Specification

This role is only open to current Manchester Met students who demonstrate in their application that they are/have:
  •  Friendly, approachable and confident when communicating with a range of people.
  • Reliable, organised and punctual.
  • Professional attitude and willingness to get involved.
  • Confident communicating with graduates, staff, employers and external guests.
  • Able to work as part of a team and respond positively to requests.
  • Flexible and willing to support with a range of event tasks.
  • Previous event experience (desirable but not essential).
