Job Description

This opportunity is open to current Manchester Metropolitan University students only. Applicants must be based in the UK for the duration of the role.

The Marketing, International Business and Tourism (MIBT) Placement Ambassador role offers an opportunity to inspire and support fellow students as they explore placement and internship opportunities. As an ambassador, you will use your own experience to encourage students to engage with placements, helping them understand the benefits, navigate the application process, and prepare for success.

By working with Level 4 and Level 5 students, you will provide guidance and motivation throughout their placement journey. You will help students evaluate whether a placement is right for them, share practical advice, and signpost relevant support and resources.

Placement Ambassadors will mainly support students within their own programme area, while also contributing to wider department activities as part of a collaborative ambassador team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Share your placement or internship experience through presentations, panel discussions, and Q&A sessions.
  • Support placement and employability events, inductions, and workshops.
  • Deliver informal drop-in sessions for students seeking advice and guidance.
  • Encourage and motivate students throughout
This role will take place on 28 September 2026 to 31 August 2027.
Working hours will vary depending on departmental activities and events throughout the academic year.
Full training and a role briefing will be provided by Gillian Cosser and David Colley before you begin, with ongoing support available throughout the ambassador programme.
 

Person Specification

This role is ONLY OPEN to students who have completed a placement or short-term internship and have first-hand experience of the application process.

This role is only open to current Manchester Met Students who meet the following requirements:
Enthusiastic about sharing your placement experience with other students. 
Strong communication and interpersonal skills. 
Confident speaking with individuals and groups. 
Approachable, supportive, and able to motivate others. 
Reliable, organised, and able to manage commitments. 
Able to work independently and as part of a team. 
Professional when representing MIBT and Manchester Met.
