The current opportunity is available for current Manchester Met students, to apply you must be based in the UK for the duration of the role.
Are you a creative Manchester Met student with an eye for great content and an interest in health, sport or movement? The Manchester Movement Unit, the University’s physiotherapy clinic offering affordable physiotherapy, acupuncture and massage to the public, staff and sports scholars, is looking for a Social Media Content Creator to join our team for four hours a week. You will plan, create and publish engaging posts, short-form videos and stories that showcase our clinicians, our evidence-based approach to musculoskeletal care and the people we help, raising the profile of the Unit across Manchester and beyond.
This is a flexible role that fits around your studies and offers genuine, portfolio-building experience in healthcare communications. You will work closely with our clinical leads, have creative input into how the Unit presents itself online, and gain first-hand insight into a busy university clinic.
If you are confident with Instagram, TikTok, Facebook or LinkedIn, can write clear and lively copy, and enjoy turning complex ideas into accessible content, we would love to hear from you.
The postholder will create and manage social media content that promotes the services, expertise and activities of the Manchester Movement Unit, working approximately four hours per week under the guidance of the clinical leads. Main duties:
- Plan and maintain a monthly content calendar aligned with the Unit’s services, events and campaigns.
- Create original content (photographs, short-form video, reels, graphics and written posts) for the Unit’s social media channels.
- Write clear, accurate and accessible captions and copy, checking any clinical or health claims with the clinical team before publication.
- Schedule and publish posts, and respond to routine comments and messages in line with University guidance, escalating clinical or sensitive enquiries.
- Ensure written consent is obtained before any patient, client or staff member is photographed or filmed, and that no confidential information is shared.
- Follow Manchester Met brand, accessibility and social media guidelines (e.g. alt text and subtitles).
- Monitor basic engagement metrics and provide a short monthly summary with suggestions for improvement.
- Undertake other reasonable duties appropriate to the role.
