Job Description

The current opportunity is available for current Manchester Met students, to apply you must be based in the UK for the duration of the role.
 
Manchester Metropolitan University is proud to be in the second year of Atelier Connect Events, an internal event management company that will be staffed by students just like yourself. This position is specifically available to Event Management students with the objective of generating collaboration among students from levels 5 and 6. This opportunity will create informal mentoring, use the diverse knowledge of different year groups, foster peer support, and build a strong bond amongst event management students with the aim of executing successful and excellent events. The projects will be supervised and guided by events management academic and professional staff who will also provide mentorship throughout.
 
Successful students will begin the projects as generalists and have the chance to explore diverse areas of events management in varying roles which will include, but are not limited to:
  • Project management
  • Operations management
  • Event project marketing
  • PR and social media
  • Administration and finance
By performing various duties you will have the opportunity to develop a versatile skill set and a comprehensive understanding of events management.
 
As part of the Atelier team you will be responsible for leading and assist each other in delivering events within and outside of the university, and supporting with stakeholder management, budgets, content and events operations. You will be involved with any live events that take place during the Atelier year, supporting the team in all aspects of operational delivery.

Dates: October 2024 - July 2025 (Flexibility depending on student availability and project need)
Hours of Work: 8 - 16 hours per week, flexible around your studies and within Monday to Friday 9:00am to 5:00pm, unless events/projects require otherwise
Location: Manchester Met University campus; Business School and Marketing Department.

There will be briefing prior to starting this role after an interview and successful shortlisting.
 

Person Specification

This role is only open to current Manchester Met Students who meet the following requirements - 
 
You must be a Manchester Met Events Management student at levels 5 and 6. You will be an individual who is passionate about events and willing to learn on the job. You should have the ability to work with stakeholders across the university to support event planning and delivery and should have excellent all-round communication, organisational, administrative and IT skills. You must also enjoy working in a team.
 
The selection process involves submitting a written application followed by an interview. It is noteworthy that candidates are not selected based on academic ability and experience, but rather on attitude and personal qualities that align with the project.
