Job Description

The role of a Care Leaver Ambassador is as follows:

1) To Inspire the Care Experienced young people and to be role models on specifically targeted events. These may include the following:

Small Campus Visits
Collaborative Network Visits
Conferences
Awards ceremonies
Mentoring projects
Network meeting

2) To engage in some of the following tasks:

Speaking confidentially on their experience in the Education system, 
Promoting Higher Education as a viable option for all Care Leavers who have the aptitude and desire to go on to University

3)  To speak to adults who support Looked After Children on events and help identify some issue faced by Care Leavers. These may include:

        Social Workers
        Leaving Care Teams – Personal Advisers
        Foster Carers
        Care Leavers

4) To speak to Looked After Children and inspire and engage them in Education and to better their future

5) To take part in discussions at conferences with small groups of people.

6. To support the Widening Participation Team in activities that are specifically focused on Care Experienced people

It’s not essential that you are able to DO ALL of these tasks straight away or feel comfortable with these tasks, however you would be expected to be able to DO MOST of these tasks. 
 
Hours and dates of work: The pay and the hours will vary with each project.
 
Recruited Care Leaver Ambassadors do not need to reapply for this role.
 

Person Specification

This role is only available to those students whom are in RECEIPT OF THE CARE LEAVER BURSARY.
 
Applicants should be/have:
 
Passionate about encouraging and working with young people whom are Care Experienced.
