Student Internship 2025 - Professional Placement Events
 
Background:
The Professional Placement team manage the mandatory placements for students on Professional accredited programmes with the Faculty of Health and Education and Department of Healthcare Science in the Faculty of Science and Engineering.  Programmes include; Initial Teacher Training, Nursing, Physiotherapy and Healthcare Science.
 

We have introduced a new Placement Management System, InPlace Institute, which has revolutionised the way the university is able to manage placements, allowing the team to share placement opportunities and have a consistent approach to allocations across all programmes within the Faculties.

Internship:

The Role on offer is supporting the Professional Placement team Initial Teacher Training (ITT) team with the organisation of the ITT Partnership Conference on the Tuesday 8 July 2025.   The post holder will be required to provide administrative support prior to the event and be available on the day to support the conference.  The work will involve attendance list, room bookings, organisation of catering requirements, car parking and workshop support.  Ideally the post will be part-time 20 hours per week over a 4 week period.

 

The post holder will also assist the Professional Placements team to collate the opportunities from placement providers for the next academic year 2025/26.  They will assist with this piece of work for ITT and Work Integrated Learning programmes to ensure the placement opportunities are accurately recorded on InPlace ready for the start of the allocation process.

Dates: 16 June - 11 July 2025
Hours per week: 20, for 4 weeks. 80 hours total

Please Note - Students are only eligible to undertake one internship under the 2025 Student Internship offering. 

Person Specification

This role is only open to current Manchester Met Students who meet the following requirements - 
  •  Strong organisational and administrative skills, with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  
Please Note - As part of the 2025 Student Internship offering, priority will be given to Level 5 & 6 students who have specified in the Careers Registration survey (this is completed during enrolment and cannot be changed at this time) that they have had no work experience in the last 12 months and would like some on campus work or a short work placementHowever, applications are welcomed from all students meeting the criteria below.
