Job Description

The current opportunity is available for current Manchester Met students, to apply you must be based in the UK for the duration of the role.

The Department of Health Professions is looking to appoint a social media assistant to work with staff across the department to raise the profile of the work we do. This will be to develop content to be used across our website, Instagram, X, LinkedIn and Facebook accounts. The department delivers high quality education to Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech and Language Therapy and Dietetic professional programmes. We also deliver postgraduate courses in nutrition and occupational health, safety and environment. This diverse portfolio means that the successful applicant will be required to work 4 hours per week for the remainder of the academic year. You will be provided with a monthly plan to capture social media content across our campus.

Duties may include:

  • Assist the department in writing and editing posts and visual materials.
  • Write short news articles.
  • Create engaging multimedia content across the multiple platforms
  • Assist in identifying events and topics
  • Carry out an analysis of other accounts
  • Will report to the Deputy Head of Department and Education Lead in the department

Person Specification

This role is open to current Manchester Met students who meet the following requirements -

    Essential

    • Second year (level 5)
    • Proficient in InDesign, Photoshop and a film editing software
    • Confident in writing news stories and creating content across multiple platforms.
    • Have a good understanding of various social media platforms and their role in recruitment and publicity and a thorough understanding of the subject area, and the Fashion Institute and its courses.
    • Will act as an advocate for the Department of Health Professions and the university.
    • Able to work independently.
    • Proactive, creative and propositional, meet deadlines and have a professional attitude when interacting with other staff members and students.
