The current opportunity is available for current Manchester Met students from the Department of Sociology (and Criminology), to apply you must be based in the UK for the duration of the role.
The project aim is to maximise the impact of the internationalisation of the student experience as pursued in the Dept of Sociology and across FAH in terms of employability and graduate outcomes co-producing student-friendly strategies.
The student intern will be:
1. Researching the value of international experiences as part of the student journey and in relation to employability and graduate outcomes.
2. Co-producing strategies to harness that value in students' narratives of themselves in professional contexts
3. The intern will also get a taste on more 'hands-on' international work and will support international visits on campus (of international interns or international partner universities or research events with international engagements/the global chair's visit for e.g.).
The intern would complete about 60 hours over 6 weeks (10 hours a week working flexibly - except for the planned events on 19 May: International visit (India), 29 May: International visit (Indonesia) and 26 June: conference).
Dates: 19 May - early July 2025
Hours of Work: flexible, except for 19 May, 29 May and 26 June when it will be 9:00am - 5:00pm.
Please Note - As part of the 2025 Sociology Internship offering, priority will be given to Level 5 & 6 students who have specified in the Careers Registration survey (this is completed during enrolment and cannot be changed at this time) that they have had no work experience in the last 12 months and would like some on campus work or a short work placement and those who have not worked via Jobs4Students previously. However, applications are welcomed from all students meeting the criteria below.
Students are only eligible to undertake one Sociology Internship.
