Job Description

The current opportunity is available for current Manchester Met students, to apply you must be based in the UK for the duration of the role.
  
The main purpose of this role is to provide research support to for the projects “Mainstreaming nature-based solutions’ and ‘Impact of space, place and cultural identity on internally displaced communities’ by assisting with literature review, research data collection and analysis.
 
You will provide research support in terms of literature revies and data collection on the project titles. This will include published and unpublished research material including reports held by the local agencies and will form a key part of the background to the projects.
 
This literature and database searches is to be conducted using standard techniques and methods. The researcher is expected to write up the results and prepare a report for the project lead.
 
Use initiative and judgement to develop appropriate techniques for the review in order to facilitate research work and resolve problems affecting the achievement of objectives and deadlines.
 
 
Research Activities
  • Literature Review- carry out systematic literature review
  • Data collection about related projects and case studies
  • Data analysis excel and any other statistical method
  • Present the information in a clear and concise report
 
Dates: 2 June 2025 - 27 June 2025
Hours: 8 hours/ up to 16 weekly 

Person Specification

This role is only open to current Manchester Met Students who meet the following requirements- - 
  • Ability to undertake research by preparing, setting up, conducting and presenting the outcome of literature review.
  • Proficiency in the use of relevant software packages such as MS WORD, Excel.
  • Knowledge of statistical analysis, including an understanding of relevant research methods and techniques in the area are beneficial.
  • A degree in a related subject area (Architecture, Social Sciences, Geography or any other) or equivalent qualification. Working towards a post graduate qualification is preferable.
  • Have Experience in Literature Review and Data collection
  • Experience presenting and communicating complex information in writing
  • Able to prioritise work independently and as part of a team in order to deliver individual and team objects
  • Additional experience such as: Statistical analysis and interpretations of the results are beneficial
 
Please Note: This position is more suitable for a graduate student who has completed their first degree and working towards their post graduate qualifications/ PhD student or Graduate Teaching Assistant
