The Careers Service (Faculty of Science & Engineering) is recruiting a Marketing and Events Coordinator.
The Careers Service plays a crucial role in helping students succeed in a competitive graduate job market. We support students and graduates with the development of employability skills, advice on career options, applying for jobs and work experience, meeting employers and finding graduate job opportunities. The Science and Engineering Careers Team works in collaboration with academic colleagues to support students within the Faculty to achieve their career goals.
Project Overview
Help us plan 'Week 6: Get Set for Success', a dynamic 5-day event designed to enhance students' employability. Activities include guest speakers, hands-on workshops, skills sessions, and networking opportunities. As the Marketing and Events Coordinator, you'll play a pivotal role in organising, promoting, and delivering this exciting event alongside the Week 6 Planning team.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the promotion and delivery of the Week 6: Get Set for Success event, developing creative marketing strategies to boost student engagement. You’ll coordinate event logistics, liaise with internal and external partners, manage communications, and support administrative tasks. You’ll also contribute to wider Faculty activities, including induction and wellbeing events, while supporting student-staff collaboration initiatives.
Key Tasks
- Marketing and communications plan: Develop and implement a strategy to promote Week 6 to the Faculty of Science and Engineering students.
- Innovative promotion: Find creative ways to engage students from induction week onwards, increasing awareness, bookings, and participation.
- Operational planning: Evaluate last year’s event and contribute to the detailed planning of Week 6.
- Event management: Lead the planning and organisation of workshops/activities, making sure they’re engaging and relevant for current students.
- Liaison: Coordinate with internal and external partners supporting the event.
- Administrative support: Assist with administrative tasks as directed by the Planning Team, such as organising event documents, uploading events to Rise, and monitoring bookings.
- Support the Students as Partners Community of Practice, contributing to projects that enhance student-staff collaboration.
- Additional duties: Support with other tasks as required by your line manager and the Faculty Careers and Enrichment Team, including student Induction, Welcome and Wellbeing activities in the build-up to Week 6.

Dates: Monday 18 August - Friday 7 November 2025
Hours: 35 hours per week full time, except for Bank Holiday Monday (25 August 2025)
Working pattern: Monday to Friday. Working hours are 8:45am-4:30pm or 9:00am-4:45pm with an unpaid 45-minute lunch break
