Background
MMU Sport delivers, in partnership with others, the non-academic sporting offer across the university. We are responsible for sports facilities, high-performance sports teams (including the Sports Scholarship programme), university sports clubs, sport and physical activity participation programmes, and sports volunteering.
This is an exciting opportunity to join our growing and dynamic team, whose ambition is to enhance the student experience at Manchester Met through the power of sport and physical activity. Our goal is to increase engagement in sport and physical activity among both staff and students, raise standards within our university sports clubs, and support student development through workforce opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
You will work directly with our Football Development Officer and Head Coach to coordinate football club trials—promoting the trials to incoming students, managing the expression of interest and registration process, and supporting the delivery of trial matches at our Platt Lane Sports Complex.
You will also collaborate with the Sport Development team to support Welcome events on campus, such as taster sessions and the Freshers Fair, where you will promote the MMU Sport offer and key messaging.
Key Tasks
- monitor and organise the football club trials expression of interest and registration process, filtering students into the correct categories and sending out targeted communications to ensure students are aware of their opportunities to engage in our football programme whilst at the university no matter what their ability level.
- communication with Head Coaches, Committee Members and Captains ensuring they are aware of the level of interest in their trials and that they have all the relevant information ahead of their specific trial dates.
- work directly with the student football clubs to plan, delivery and evaluate the trials process
- signposted non-selected students from trials into other football programme activities such as Active Campus and Campus Leagues
- recruit students into our Campus League offer
- support with Welcome events (taster sessions, freshers fair, welcome weekend) including promotion, event set up, stall manning and dealing with enquiries to showcase the whole MMU Sport offer
- support the MMU Sport office administration as required including reception duties

Dates: Monday 18 August - Friday 7 November 2025
Hours: 35 hours per week full time, except for Bank Holiday Monday (25 August 2025)
Working pattern: Monday to Friday. Working hours are 8:45am-4:30pm or 9:00am-4:45pm with an unpaid 45-minute lunch break
Location: Business School and Platt Lane Sports Complex
