The current opportunity is available for current Manchester Met students, to apply you must be based in the UK for the duration of the role.
We are looking for somone to aid in the screening of studies as part of large review for Campbell Systematic Review on CBT in the prison system. This may be at the level of title and abstract as well as full paper screenings, and then including and excluding papers based on the reviews study criteria as dictated by the review protocol. You will be able to:
Research Activities
Undertake systematic review work involving structured searching, screening and data extraction from quantitative research papers. To use the review software Distiller (applications will be trained on this).
Plan and prioritise own work and resources, within research project framework, in order to determine the most effective way to achieve agreed research objectives.
Conduct literature and database searches using standard techniques and methods.
Write up results of own research and prepare for presentation to research team and relevant stakeholders.
Contribute to the production of quantitative research reports and publications.
Use initiative and judgement to develop appropriate techniques in order to facilitate research work and resolve problems affecting the achievement of objectives and deadlines.
Liaison and Networking
Present research to the team and in appropriate articles for publication, such as academic/professional journals or conferences.
Participate in internal and external partnerships and networks in order to aid the dissemination of research findings, to share best practice, and to enhance the reputation of the University.
Service Provision
Proactively and effectively engage with quality assurance procedures to ensure that University standards are upheld.
Collaborate with academic colleagues on research development and future direction.
Team Working
Actively participate as a member of the research team, offering general help and guidance to others who may be assisting with the research project.

Specialist Knowledge
Due to the high level of accuracy required for research work of this type i.e. making reasonably complex decisions, subject knowledge within the area is required. The study is exploring the impact of CBT type interventions in the prison space, a background in criminology, sociology, psychology or a related mental health field etc would be necessary.
From a technical standpoint the applicant must be fully computer literate and confident on applications such as excel and related data management software. Although applicants are not required to use any specialist statistical software on this review, a reasonable degree of quantitative methodical knowledge is required when evaluating the efficacy and suitability of such studies e.g. understanding aspects such as sample sizes, effect sizes, validity measures etc
