Job Description

The current opportunity is available for current Manchester Met students, to apply you must be based in the UK for the duration of the role.
   
As part of the ESRC Festival of Social Science 2025, we are organising an event titled:
Rethinking the Matchday Experience for Disabled Football Fans in Greater Manchester

📍 HOME Manchester
🗓️ Monday, 3 November 2025
🕒 Event time: 5:00-9:00 PM
 
Disabled supporters from Greater Manchester football clubs will join us for an evening of conversation, connection, and change. Through interactive activities, group discussions, and creative message-building, we’ll explore how to make matchdays more inclusive.
We are looking for a student to join the event staff and support the delivery of this important evening.
 
Role includes: 
Event Delivery Support
  • Contribute to a friendly, inclusive, and accessible environment for all attendees.
  • Assist with event registration, including welcoming guests and checking them in.
  • Support event logistics, including setup and coordination with venue staff.
  • Guide attendees throughout the event, offering clear information and a warm presence.
  • Respond to access needs respectfully and effectively, ensuring attendees feel supported.
  • Act as a point of contact for general queries during the event.
  • Provide assistance to speakers and facilitators as needed.
 
Post-Event Follow-Up
Provide half-day support following the event to assist with:
  • Collecting and summarising attendee feedback.
  • Supporting reporting and administrative wrap-up tasks

Person Specification

This role is only open to current Manchester Met Students who meet the following requirements - 
 
Requirements
  • Experience supporting events or working in public-facing roles.
  • Confidence engaging with diverse audiences, including people with access needs.
  • Ideally, prior experience working with disabled people or supporting inclusive participation.
  • A proactive and thoughtful approach to accessibility and inclusion.
  • Interest in football. 
  • L5, L6 or Master's students
