The Student Communications team (based in the Communications department) are looking for students across Manchester Met to join our Student Diary Project.
If you are a undergraduate student with a keen eye for detail, looking to make a difference to the student comms that you receive across email, social, digital screens and more, we’re keen to work with you.
This is your chance to shape the way that we communicate with students, by sharing your insights about the kinds of communications you are seeing day-to-day. You will have the opportunity to feedback about our effective use of comms, and tell us where we can improve.
As a Student Diary Project Assistant , you’ll have the opportunity to:
- Share your insights about the kinds of communications you are receiving.
- Help shape core campaigns including Welcome.
- Contribute new ideas based off your own experiences.
- Have your say and change the way Manchester Met communicates with future students.
If successful, you’ll form part of a team of Student Diary Project members across your year of study.
You’ll be contracted for 4 hours per week for a total of 8 weeks. You will have the flexibility to manage your own time, but guidance and training will be offered at the start of your tenure.
During the week we will give you access to a Google Classroom, where you can fill out a personal diary entry about the types of communications you have received that day. This should only take 30 minutes at the end of each day, so it can be flexibly applied to your study routine.
At the end of the week, you will be sent a survey to fill out in more detail about the communications you received that week. This should take you 1.5 hours to complete and be completed before Sunday EOD.
A typical week should look like:
Mon – Fri: 5 x 30 mins diary entries, recording all the content you have received/seen that day.
Fri – Sun: 1 x 1.5 hour survey entry, providing more details about your week and offering any additional information – including how you engaged with a given piece of comms, recommendations for improvement, examples of best practice.
This role is available to students from all courses across the undergraduate. We have created the role to fit around your studies, so you know how much time you are required to fit into your routine each week.
