The Careers Service Student Advisory Board (SAB) brings together a panel of students from across the university to collaborate with staff, provide honest feedback, and help shape support for students in preparing for life after university. It’s a core part of how we ensure our services meet the diverse needs of all students.
This is an exciting opportunity to have strategic input into developing careers services at Manchester Met whilst enhancing your CV and developing employability skills.
We aim to recruit students who are representative of different courses, year groups and backgrounds. No previous experience of using careers services is needed.

What You’ll Do
As a member of the SAB, you’ll:
- Ensure student voice is central to the Careers Service’s strategy and delivery
- Act as a critical friend – sharing ideas, feedback and creative solutions
- Contribute to improving how we communicate with students and employers
- Support and shape student research or feedback activity when appropriate
- Help set the direction of the Board’s work, including choosing discussion themes
- Collaborate with Careers staff to influence service design and impact
Your Commitment
- Attend six in-person meetings on campus (light lunch included)
- Engage with pre-meeting materials (approx. 2 hours per meeting)
- Be prepared to contribute to discussions and interactive activities (such as polls, quizzes, and planning focus groups) that represent and gather a range of student perspectives on careers-related topics.
