Job Description

The current opportunity is available for current Manchester Met students, to apply you must be based in the UK for the duration of the role.
 
Project: Community Research Ethics Initiative Project (CREI)
 
Key Tasks
 
The main purpose of this role is to design a high-quality, visually engaging report for the CREI. The role involves translating research content into a clear, accessible, and professionally presented document through layout, graphics, and typography, ensuring it meets project objectives and university standards.
 
Design & Production
 
Design the full layout and visual style of the research report.
 
Create original graphics, icons, diagrams, and visualisations to effectively communicate research findings.
 
Ensure consistency in branding, colour palette, typography, and visual identity throughout the document.
 
Format text, images, tables, and infographics for both print-ready and digital outputs.
 
Prepare and deliver final files in required formats, ensuring quality and accessibility standards are met.
 
Research & Collaboration
 
Collaborate with the research team to understand project goals, content, and key messages.
 
Present design concepts and drafts for feedback and iterate based on input.
 
Participate in project meetings to align design approach with research dissemination plans.
 
Support the visual dissemination of findings to stakeholders and wider audiences.
 
Liaison and Networking
 
Present research to the team and in appropriate articles for publication, such as academic/professional journals or conferences.
 
Team Working
 
Actively participate as a member of the research team, offering general help.
 
Miscellaneous

Dates: January to March
Hours: 5 hours per week
Location: remotely with a possibility of meeting in person if needed.  

Person Specification

This role is open to current Manchester Met students who meet the following criteria:
 
Essential 
* Studying for, or holding a post graduate degree, equivalent qualification or substantial relevant experience if you are studying towards your Bachelors.  
* Ability to use initiative, creativity and judgement to develop appropriate approaches in order to further scholarly activities. 
* Proficiency in the use of relevant graphic design software packages. 
* Experience of presenting and communicating complex information to a range of audiences, both orally and in design.  
* Experience of prioritising work independently and as part of a team in order to deliver individual and team objectives  

Desirable 
* Previous experience in report designing.  
* Small portfolio of graphic design work.
