Job Description

The current opportunity is available for current Manchester Met students, to apply you must be based in the UK for the duration of the role.

Intern editor, the Northern Quota. Duties include:

Overseeing the social media strategy for the news website
Editing and publishing content
Responsible for sending out the NQ Substack
Overseeing all email
Sourcing stories for newsdays
Helping with planning for newspaper edition of the Northern Quota
Liaising with journalism tutors over content and encouraging engagement by students with NQ for newsdays
Oversee NQ's online news diary
InDesign editing and design skills (preferable)

Dates: w/c 26 January to 15 April 2026

Hours of Work: 4 hours per week

Person Specification

This role is only open to current Manchester Met Students who meet the following requirements -

Currently on either BA or MA Journalism courses.

The successful candidate will have excellent written and verbal skills, be confident in leading a small team of news reporters, come up with ideas for news stories, and take a lead role in recruitment for the NQ newspaper.
