Job Description

The current opportunity is available for current Manchester Met students, to apply you must be based in the UK for the duration of the role.
  

The main purpose of this role is to adapt 3D scans from organic sculptures to turn them into low topology, UV-unwrapped and textured assets for use in a VR art game. The textures will need to be expressive of particular emotions (angry, sad, happy and calm) and will be created in close communication with the project lead Dr. Adinda van ’t Klooster. The wider aim of the app is to help people express their emotions using their voice and have this reflected in stimulating and expressive visuals. You will work within the wider project team towards a 10th of March exhibition deadline.

Key Tasks

  • Retopologise organic 3D scans in software such as Maya or Blender for use in a VR game
  • Texture the models to express specific emotions based on reference materials and creative direction.
  • Liaise with the hiring manager in weekly meetings

Dates: Monday 2 Feb 2026 to Friday 6 March 2026
Hours of Work: 16 hours per week (flexible working pattern)
Interviews will be held on the 30 January 2026 

Person Specification

This role is only open to current Manchester Met Students who meet the following requirements - 
  • Have ample experience of modelling and retopologising 3D models for animation (in software such as Maya or Blender)  - evidenced through a portfolio
  • Excellent skills in texturing models using software such as Maya or Substance Painter, for use in the Unity Games Engine - evidenced through a portfolio
  • Work well towards a deadline
  • Ability to work independently
  • Good communication skills
  • Excellent team working skills
  • Level 5 or Level 6 undergraduate and postgraduate students
