Manchester Poetry Library is recruiting a pool of Schools Poetry Library Ambassadors to work on school visits to the Poetry Library in the Grosvenor East Building. This role will be offered on a flexible basis, depending on event schedules and staffing needs. This role offers a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience working with young people while supporting the Poetry Library.
Duties may include -
- Acting as a Student Ambassador, welcoming visiting pupils and teachers attending university visit days and events as part of the Poetry Library schools’ programme.
- Supporting creative workshops, taking part in workshops led by experienced practitioners alongside pupils (sometimes offering an opportunity to shadow professional writer/practitioners)
- Delivering campus tours – sharing your experience as a student with visiting pupils to give them a sense of what being a student at Manchester Met University is like
- Opportunities to lead Poetry Library tours and even creative workshops
- Opportunities to take part in some of the extended schools outreach projects managed by the Poetry Library
- Providing general event support to the Poetry Library team on creative outreach days – providing general ambassador support, such as welcoming groups, working on registration and general administrative help.
Please Note: Briefing and training relevant to individual events, including safeguarding training will be given and opportunities for more in-depth involvement offered as your time as a Schools Ambassador progresses with us.
