Job Description

The current opportunity is available for current Manchester Met students, to apply you must be based in the UK for the duration of the role.
  

There is an opportunity to work as an Employability Assistant on departmental activities for students in the School of Sociology & Criminology. 

 The student will be providing administrative support for employability activities. On a weekly basis they will be completing tasks including:

  • Assisting with market research with student groups 

  • Identifying relevant RISE activities for students 

  • Providing logistical support for departmental events

  • Promoting upcoming events to students

  •  

Dates: 16 Feb - 27 March and 20 April - 22 May 2026 (12 weeks excluding Spring break (28 March-19 April)) 

Hours: 3 hours per week (hours are flexible around study) 

Person Specification

This role is only open to students currently studying on a programme in the School of Sociology & Criminology who meet the following requirements -  

  

Essential 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 

  • Evidence of a responsible attitude and ability to show initiative. 

  • Able to contribute and work effectively in a team and independently. 

  • Evidence of good time keeping and attendance record. 

  • Experience in a customer-facing role or administrative role. 

  • Currently studying on a programme in the School of Sociology & Criminology. 

  • Confident working in busy environments.

  •  

Desirable:  

  • Passionate about supporting fellow students to engage with industry-facing, skills development or career-focused activities. 

  • General knowledge about careers support available to students.
