A paid opportunity for Mathematics undergraduate students at Manchester Metropolitan University to act as tutors for A-Level students.
The Faculty of Science and Engineering is working with schools and colleges across Greater Manchester to offer tuition to disadvantaged or underserved student groups studying A-level Maths or Physics to support future careers and university applications in STEM.
We want to recruit tutors to provide online tutoring sessions from March 2026 to March 2027. Tutors will run online sessions with groups of 4-6 students on Zoom or Teams. All materials for the sessions are provided and the one-hour sessions run fortnightly during term time.
Main responsibilities:
- Attendance at training session in early March 2026
- Completion of 22 one-hour online tutoring sessions in March 2026 - March 2027
- Regular updates to the Levelling Up academic lead on how the sessions are progressing and attendance monitoring.
All tutors will be required to have a clear enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check to ensure suitability for working with young people. This will be organised by MMU once you are appointed to the role.
Tutors will have a casual contract with Manchester Metropolitan University. For each one-hour session, tutors will additionally be paid one hour preperation preparation time.
