Job Description

The current opportunity is available for current Manchester Met students, to apply you must be based in the UK for the duration of the role.

This hands-on role will give several students the opportunity to work with academics and other students from across humanities schools (e.g., English, Sociology and Criminology, History, Politics and Philosophy) to deliver and promote Humanities Highlights. The student will work with academics in the run up to and during the degree show itself. 

Duties will include: 

* Assist in all pre-event preparation 
* Assist with the delivery of the degree show on 14 May 
* Assist with the branding of Humanities Highlights 
* Liaise with internal and external suppliers  
* General administration duties

Hours of work: The student will work 4 hours per week from w/c 2 March until 8 May, then 10 hours during w/c 11 May. 
 

Date of exhibition: Thursday 14 May 2026 

Times: 12:00pm-6:00pm/2:30pm-6:00pm (dependent upon role)

Person Specification

This role is open to current Manchester Met students who meet the following requirements -

Essential

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Evidence of a responsible attitude and ability to show initiative.
  • Able to contribute and work effectively in a team and independently.
  • Evidence of good time keeping and attendance record.
  • Experience in a customer-facing role or administrative role.
  • Currently studying on a humanities programme.
  • Confident working in busy environments.
  • The selected student must be available to work on campus at least one day per week from w/c 20 April, and on 13 and 14 May as needed. The rest of the time, the role will largely be online.

 

Desirable

  • Experience of working on event coordination or delivery, in either a paid or voluntary capacity.
  • Passionate about encouraging students to engage with opportunities to showcase work in industry environments.
