Job Description

The current opportunity is available for current Manchester Met students, to apply you must be based in the UK for the duration of the role.

We are looking for current international students to join a focus group to help us improve the prospective student experience, how we engage with international enquirers, applicants and offer holders as well as the activities we hold for prospective students.

The discussion will focus on activities such as:
  • online webinars
  • virtual drop-in sessions
  • campus tours
  • contact via email
  • chatting to current students online (e.g. Unibuddy chat)
  • calling campaigns (if you registered and received a telephone call from a current student).

We are mainly looking for students who engaged with these activities before they enrolled. Conversely, we also want to hear from students who skipped these activities as we are interested in the reasons why.

What we’ll discuss:
  • Your Recruitment Journey: What made you choose us? We want to talk about the events that helped (or didn't help), such as online webinars, virtual drop-in sessions, campus tours, and agent interactions.
  • The "No-Show" Perspective: Did you skip certain events? We especially want to know what prevented you from attending a webinar or induction activity, and what we could have done differently.
You will mainly participate in discussions, as well as complete a survey.

Who should apply: We are looking for a mix of voices! Whether you attended every single event or skipped them, your opinion matters.

We are also conducting voice recordings and require your consent for this.

You must be on campus on the following date:
30th March 2026.

There are two time slots - one of which you must attend. Please mention in your suitability statement which slot you can attend or if you can attend both.

  • 10:00 - 12:00
  • 14:00 - 16:00

Person Specification

This role is open to current Manchester Met students who meet the following requirements.
  • Be a friendly, engaging and positive representative of your course, department and Manchester Met
  • Excellent verbal and written English
  • Confident and comfortable speaking in public
  • Ability to communicate effectively in a wide range of contexts
  • Good organisational and presentation skills
  • Presentable and professional
  • Able to ‘think on your feet’
