Are you interested in performance and/or archives? Would you like to be involved in a dynamic research environment and to take a key role in planning its research activity? The Performance Research Group (PRG), based in the School of English, is currently planning a conference at the Royal Exchange Theatre on 23-24 June 2026 on ‘Performing Archives ‘and will need administrative and marketing support. The intern will support the group’s leadership team in planning the conference (June) as well as supporting its profile-raising activity related to the conference. This will be an exciting role for someone who is creative, dynamic and interested in the arts and how researchers work together.
Details
- Plan and organise a conference with Performance Research Group members
- Contact members of PRG with information and updates about the conference
- Help to shortlist and plan presentations as part of the event
- Promote conference to the university and the wider public
- Liaise with team at the Royal Exchange to manage the event.
- Work with team to curate and schedule work for the conference
- Work with team to organise event including technical support, planning, logistics etc.
- Document the event for Performance Research Group website and social media etc.

Hours per week: 10
Students will be expected to develop the following skills and experiences while carrying out this internship
- Collaborate with staff and students and external artists/industry/academics
- Curate conference within the timeframe of two day event
- Create an exciting and dynamic way of promoting the event for students and staff
- Learn and develop new skills such as design software, video editing etc.
- Design identity & layout for conference and digital screen content
- Promote conference to connect industry and engage wider audience
Please Note - As part of the 2026 Student Internship offering, priority will be given to Level 5 & 6 students who have specified in the Careers Registration survey (this is completed during enrolment and cannot be changed at this time) that they have had no work experience in the last 12 months and would like some on campus work or a short work placement. However, applications are welcomed from all students meeting the criteria below.
Students are only eligible to undertake one internship under the 2026 Student Internship offering.
