The current opportunity is available for current Manchester Met students, to apply you must be based in the UK for the duration of the role.
As the Resource Centre for the Arts & Humanities Faculty, we are always looking to enhance our service delivery through improving our existing information resources and creating new ones as new equipment or materials become available.
This role is to support the development and creation of these resources across the team. This includes, but is not limited to: online equipment information, fabric sample books, archival garment conservation, booking system information (Connect2), and social media resources. Depending on the successful candidate’s work/study experience, the resources to be developed will be tailored to the individual. You will also support our counter service to understand how customers use our resources, informing how they are developed.
Within this role you will:
- Deliver customer-facing support via Resource Centre counters
- Update booking systems
- Update the Connect2 booking system with new equipment
- Update online resources and develop best practice guidance for equipment and consumables
- Offer advice and guidance to a range of service users
- Develop equipment lists
- Develop resources for users
The Arts & Humanities Resource Centre consists of 5 counter service areas:
- Make More Store & Loans Counter
- Sustainable Resource Centre – MFI
- AV Store
- HIVE
- SODA Tech Hub

Students will be expected to develop the following skills and experiences while carrying out this internship:
- Communication skills with a range of stakeholders
- Knowledge of related materials (fabric, haberdashery, art supplies) or related equipment (AV)
- Logging and uploading to online catalogues and software (Connect2)
- Updating spreadsheets
- Organisational skills
- Customer service skills
Please Note – As part of the 2026 Student Internship offering, priority will be given to Level 5 & 6 students who have specified in the Careers Registration survey (completed during enrolment and cannot be changed at this time) that they have had no work experience in the last 12 months and would like some on‑campus work or a short work placement. However, applications are welcomed from all students meeting the criteria below.
Students are only eligible to undertake one internship under the 2026 Student Internship offering.
