Job Description

The current opportunity is available for current Manchester Met students; to apply you must be based in the UK for the duration of the role.

The Degree Show & Catalogue Support Assistant will gather and create materials in support of the 2025/26 Photography Degree Show, including web materials and the end‑of‑year catalogue.

  • Create a series of photographic and design materials to be used by the BA Photography programme, including support and design of the catalogue.
  • Assist in the organisation of the BA Photography cohort’s content to be used in print and online.
  • Support the development and production of events and activities running in May and June (including the Portfolio Event and Degree Show).
  • Liaise with the larger 3rd-year cohort, considering their needs, expectations, and ideas for these events and activities.
  • Support the organisation of the Source Graduate Magazine submission for L6.

This is an opportunity to experience a creative role and support the BA Photography course’s programme of events, as well as develop your own skills and improve future employability in the creative industries. This role is suitable for an L6 student with an interest in publication, print, and producing events / creative activities.

Hours of Work: Approximately 7 hours per week (10 days work – 7 hours per day – 70 hours total)

Person Specification

This role is only open to current Manchester Met Students who meet the following requirements - 
  • Current third-year photography student with a strong understanding of degree show expectations and with high presentation standards.
  • Experience creating and preparing visual and written content for web and print, including basic layout and formatting skills.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to gather, manage, and coordinate materials from multiple contributors
  • Good attention to detail, particularly in proofreading, image selection, and maintaining consistency across outputs.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage workload effectively.
  • Confident communication skills, able to liaise with students and staff in a clear and professional manner
  • Competent in relevant software, specifically Adobe InDesign.
  • Previous experience working on exhibitions, publications, or collaborative creative projects.
  • Understanding of social media content creation or basic editing
  • Strong visual awareness and interest in curation, sequencing, and presentation of photographic work
  • Proactive and adaptable approach, with the ability to solve problems independently when required.
