Job Description

The current opportunity is available for current Manchester Met students, to apply you must be based in the UK for the duration of the role.
  

We are seeking a creative and dependable 3rd‑year or Masters student to support our marketing and communications activity by producing high‑quality visual content. This role is ideal for a student looking to enhance their portfolio and gain real‑world experience in a professional marketing environment.

You will create engaging visuals for marketing campaigns, digital screens, social media and internal communications across our busy Catering, Retail & Hospitality service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Designing visual assets for digital screens, posters, campaigns and internal comms
  • Producing graphics and visuals for social media content
  • Supporting campaign concepts with creative ideas
  • Ensuring all materials follow MMU brand guidelines
  • Assisting with simple photography or video capture (desirable)
 

Essential Skills & Requirements

  • Current MMU 3rd‑year or Masters student
  • Must possess strong skills in Canva and Adobe Illustrator
  • Ability to create high‑quality, engaging visual content
  • Good understanding of layout, typography and visual communication
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
  • Able to commit up to 10 hours per week until end of July 2026

Person Specification

This role is only open to current Manchester Met Students who meet the following requirements - 

Qualifications & Eligibility

  • Current MMU 3rd‑year undergraduate or Masters student
  • Eligible to work part‑time during the academic year
  • Able to commit up to 10 hours per week until end of July 2026
 
 Skills & Experience
  • Strong practical skills in Canva and Adobe Illustrator
  • Ability to create engaging visual content for a range of channels (digital screens, social media, posters, campaign materials)
  • Good understanding of layout, colour, typography and visual hierarchy
  • Ability to interpret briefs and translate them into creative designs
  • Competent in basic image editing and graphic optimisation for digital formats
  • Strong written communication to accompany visual content where required
 
 Personal Qualities
  • Creative thinker with a strong eye for detail
  • Reliable, organised and able to manage workload independently
  • Comfortable working to deadlines and handling multiple tasks
  • Proactive, enthusiastic and willing to contribute ideas
  • Professional approach when working with staff and stakeholders
 
Desirable Criteria
  • Experience creating content for social media platforms (Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, etc.)
  • Experience with Adobe Photoshop or InDesign
  • Basic photography or videography skills
  • Understanding of brand guidelines and how to apply them
  • Interest in hospitality, food, retail, marketing or student engagement
  • Experience working in a customer‑facing or service environment
 
 Additional Requirements
  • Willingness to work flexibly around academic timetable
  • Willingness to learn new digital tools and platforms where needed
  • Commitment to representing MMU values and delivering high‑quality, student‑focused content
