Job Description

The current opportunity is available for current Manchester Met students. To apply, you must be based in the UK for the duration of the role.

The main purpose of this role is to provide research support to the School Wellbeing Project by assisting with research data analysis and the dissemination of findings.

Dates: 04 May 2026 – 12 June 2026
Hours: 2 days per week, up to 16 hours per week
Location: Brooks Building

Key Tasks

Research Activities

  • Support the analysis of real-world data to explore the potential impact of MMU’s School Wellbeing Project: a psychology student-led emotional health programme in Greater Manchester primary schools.
  • Undertake quantitative analysis and contribute to academic writing.
  • Plan and prioritise own workload within the research project framework to achieve agreed objectives.
  • Conduct literature and database searches using standard research methods.
  • Write up results of analysis and prepare findings for presentation to the research team.
  • Contribute to the production of research reports and publications.
  • Use initiative and judgement to develop appropriate techniques and resolve problems affecting deadlines and objectives.

Liaison and Networking

  • Present research findings to the team and through appropriate academic or professional outlets such as journals or conferences.

Service Provision

  • Engage with quality assurance procedures to ensure University standards are upheld.
  • Collaborate with academic colleagues on research development and future direction.

Team Working

  • Actively participate as a member of the research team, offering general support and guidance to others.

Miscellaneous

  • Take reasonable care for your own health and safety and that of others, and cooperate with University health and safety requirements.

Person Specification

This role is only open to current Manchester Met students who meet the criteria below:

Essential

  • Working towards a PhD.
  • Ability to use initiative, creativity and judgement to develop appropriate approaches in order to further research.
  • Proficiency in the use of relevant software packages, such as SPSS.
  • Possess sufficient breadth or depth of knowledge to work within an established research team.
  • Experience of data collection.
  • Experience of presenting and communicating complex information to a range of audiences, both orally and in writing.
  • Experience of prioritising work independently and as part of a team in order to deliver individual and team objectives.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of developing and delivering wellbeing questionnaires with children and young people, including an understanding of relevant research methods and techniques in this area.
