Job Description

The current opportunity is available for current Manchester Met students from the School of Sociology and Criminology, to apply you must be based in the UK for the duration of the role.
 
This internship will support the collation of publication, grant and engagement data etc. (structured as relevant to the ambitions of M-PACE) across the University. This will support the development of reporting and dissemination of M-PACE materials, internally and externally.
 
The successful student will gain the opportunity to interact with academic staff across the University, enhancing their confidence and communication skills. They will gain an appreciation of the nature and purpose of the research undertaken by diverse groups across the University, and its relevance to societal challenges. The student will gain experience of developing quantitative and qualitative reporting of research. It will entail team working, analysing the qualities of research outputs, working to a timetable.
  
Dates: from w/c 11 May to 17 July 2026
Hours of Work: 7 hours per week
 
Please Note - As part of the 2026 Sociology & Criminology Internship offering, priority will be given to Level 5 & 6 students who have specified in the Careers Registration survey (this is completed during enrolment and cannot be changed at this time) that they have had no work experience in the last 12 months and would like some on campus work or a short work placement and those who have not worked via Jobs4Students previously. However, applications are welcomed from all students meeting the criteria below.
   
Students are only eligible to undertake one Sociology & Criminology Internship.

Person Specification

This role is only open to current Manchester Met students from the School of Sociology and Criminology who meet the following requirements: 
  •  Develop and manage an excel spreadsheet (to capture relevant data).
  •  Have strong oral communication and planning skills (to interact with staff across the University, via email and in person).
  • Strong written communication skills (to help develop news items etc.) for upload to the M-PACE website.
