Job Description

The current opportunity is available for current Manchester Met students, to apply you must be based in the UK for the duration of the role.
  
 The central Outreach team is seeking to recruit 2 x History students to welcome a group of Year 12 college students onto Manchester Met campus as they take part in a history subject taster morning with tutor Mohammed Khan. The successful candidates will meet the students, accompany them to their seminar room in Grosvenor East and support the academic as the students attend a lecture on Decolonisation and the Cold War. 

During the morning activities, you will be expected to provide a positive and informative perspective on all aspects of studying History at Manchester Met and being a part of the Manchester Met University community. 

Responsibilities:  

  • Meet and direct visiting students and their tutor to Grosvenor East seminar room.
  • Support the academic leading the lecture and any associated activity.
  • Answer any questions about studying History and wider questions about students’ lives. You can direct complex questions to Outreach and teaching staff. 

You’ll receive full briefing ahead of the event to ensure you can guide students successfully and confidently as they attend the event and understand what is expected of you in your role.

Hours of Work: 9:00-12:30pm

Person Specification

This role is only open to current Manchester Met Students who meet the following requirements -   

-You must be a current Undergraduate History / HPP student. 

-General knowledge of Information and Guidance and able to share own student life experiences.

-You will need to be enthusiastic, reliable and enjoy working as part of a team.

-You must explain in your application how you meet the following requirements of this role: Be outgoing and confident, good with young people, excellent verbal communication skills and the ability to engage with staff and visitors, a positive attitude to university life
