We are looking for a proactive and organised assistant to support the ongoing development and coordination of our Child-Centred Youth Justice Network.
This role will play a key part in facilitating the smooth running of the network by supporting the administration and coordination of core groups, including the Steering Group, Action Group, and wider Working Groups. The postholder will help ensure meetings are well-organised, communication flows effectively, and actions are tracked and progressed.
The role will also involve supporting the planning and delivery of a network event later this year, including logistical coordination, communication with stakeholders, and general event organisation.
Alongside these core responsibilities, there may be opportunities to contribute to other areas of the network’s work as it evolves, making this a varied and flexible role suited to someone who is adaptable and collaborative.
Key responsibilities:
- Coordinate and support meetings for the Steering Group, Action Group, and Working Groups (scheduling, agendas, note-taking, and follow-ups)
- Maintain clear and organised records of meetings, actions, and key documents
- Support communication across the network, including liaising with members and stakeholders
- Assist with the planning and delivery of a network event later this year
- Provide general administrative and coordination support as needed
Dates: May 2026 - July 2026
Hours of Work: up to 6 hours per week up to a total of 60 hours work
A student undertaking this internship will gain valuable experience in coordination and administration within a professional network setting as part of wider research activities. They will develop skills in meeting organisation, stakeholder communication, and event planning, alongside strengthening their time management and organisational abilities. The role also offers opportunities to build confidence in team working, take initiative, and also gain insight into collaborative approaches to addressing systems change within the youth justice sector.
Please Note - As part of the 2026 Sociology & Criminology Internship offering, priority will be given to Level 5 & 6 students who have specified in the Careers Registration survey (this is completed during enrolment and cannot be changed at this time) that they have had no work experience in the last 12 months and would like some on campus work or a short work placement and those who have not worked via Jobs4Students previously. However, applications are welcomed from all students meeting the criteria below.
Students are only eligible to undertake one Sociology Internship.
