Job Description

The current opportunity is available for current Manchester Met students, to apply you must be based in the UK for the duration of the role.

Showreel Editor

Film Production · Post-Production · 10-day project

We're looking for a student to lead the creation of showreel content drawn from existing course material. You'll take ownership of the project from briefing through to final delivery, working independently with staff support at key stages.

How the project runs

  1. Half-day briefing — Meet with staff to review available footage, agree on the creative direction, and set clear deliverables for the project.
  2. Edit & develop — days 1–8 Collaborate on selecting, cutting, and assembling showreel material from existing course footage, working with the team and independently to a deadline.
  3. Review session — day 9 Present a near-final cut to staff for feedback and make any agreed amendments before final export.
  4. Final delivery — day 10 Submit completed showreel files in agreed formats, ready for use.

Editing time: 10 days

Person Specification

This role is only open to current Manchester Met Students from SODA only.
 
A confident editor who can work to a brief with minimal supervision. Experience with post-production software and high quality export and a good eye for storytelling through footage are essential.
 
Essential Skills & Experience
  • Proficient in video editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, or Final Cut Pro
  • Strong understanding of editing techniques, pacing, storytelling, and visual continuity
  • Ability to work independently and manage a project from briefing to final delivery
  • Good organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to meet deadlines
 
Desirable Skills & Experience
  • Previous experience editing promotional videos, trailers, or showreels
  • Basic colour correction and audio balancing skills
  • Understanding of social media and promotional video formats
